EEC described the CPA model to two key Manitoba government representatives: Jim Crone, Director of Energy Economic Development, and Peter Reimer, Project Manager with Community and Economic Development.

EEC met with Drew Caldwell, local MLA, to discuss the CPA model and to provide an EEC project update.
EEC submitted an application to Andy Nadler at the Crops Branch, Ag Met Specialist in order to request EEC met tower equipment.

EEC met with Manitoba Association of Municipalities to review the CPA model and discuss possible recommendations.

EEC hosted a seminar for local landowners to gather input for the proposed CPA and EEC land lease agreement (30 landowners attended).

EEC met with Manitoba Hydro’s CEO Bob Brennan and Senior Vice President Ken Adams to review the CPA model.
Dan Mazier from EEC was the invited guest on CBC Radio in Winnipeg to discuss community owned wind projects.

EEC met with Brandon Community Strategic Planning Environmental Committee to describe the concepts that EEC was developing.

EEC met with David Kerr, Business and Rural Development Specialist and Cooperative Specialist with the Manitoba government, in order to review the CPA model and discuss specific questions about the co-operative business model.
January 12, 2008:
EEC performed a met tower land scope with community project developer experts Ed Hale (Toronto Renewable Energy Co-operative) and John Ihle (Minnesota Community-Based Energy Development).
January 10-11 2008:
EEC hosting a Community Wind Seminar in Forrest, Manitoba that included assembling a professional community wind panel of experts (40 community members attended).
December 10, 2007:
EEC provided a progress update to the Rural Municipality of Elton.
EEC met with Manitoba Hydro (Bob Graham and Jared Waddell, Distribution and Engineering) to discuss potential site of an EEC project.

EEC met with Leanne Rowat (MLA Minnedosa Constituency) to describe EEC’s approach and proposed project.
EEC secured the professional expertise of Laurence Lafond for the EEC feasibility study.
EEC made application to Ag CDI, at which time the Initiative was awarded to EEC.
July – November 2007:
Dan Mazier spoke to numerous communities about community ownership of wind projects, and described the EEC approach to many rural communities through his participation in the ManSEA (Manitoba Sustainable Energy Association) province-wide tour.
The Elton Energy Cooperative Steering Committee attended the MAFRI Policy and Procedure workshop.
June 2006:Elton Energy Cooperative was formed to investigate building a renewable energy project in the RM of Elton.
